1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the FileLever website, download pages, documentation, contact form, business-license inquiry flows, payment handoff flows, and the current desktop application experience described on this site. It covers information collected by FileLever directly and information shared with third-party providers only where needed to operate those parts of the service.
2. Information we may collect
We try to keep collection limited and proportionate to what is needed to run the website and respond to people who contact us.
- Website analytics and technical data. When you visit the website, we may receive technical information such as page views, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device type, operating system, and general interaction patterns. This may come from privacy-focused analytics tools such as Cloudflare Web Analytics, from hosting or CDN logs, or from similar website performance and security tooling.
- Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide, which includes your name, email address, topic, and message. If you contact us about business licensing, you may also choose to provide details about your organization, role, and intended use. We use that information to review your request and reply to you.
- Payment handoff information. If you choose to support FileLever, we may pass limited order context such as the selected amount and return URLs to the payment provider so the checkout can be created. FileLever does not collect or store your card, bank, or UPI credentials on this site.
3. Information we do not seek for core desktop workflows
FileLever is positioned as a local-first desktop product. For the core workflows described on this website, your actual files are intended to be processed on your machine against the folders you choose rather than uploaded to FileLever servers.
That means FileLever does not need your document contents, folder contents, or media library uploaded to this site in order to let you download the app or read product documentation.
FileLever can work with Google Drive content after the Google Drive desktop/client has synced those folders to your computer. FileLever does not connect directly to your Google Drive cloud account for remote sync or remote delete, and the website and FileLever servers still do not require your folder contents to be uploaded in order to use those features.
4. How we use information
- Operate, secure, and improve the website
- Understand aggregate traffic and product interest
- Respond to support, business, and product inquiries
- Evaluate and respond to business licensing inquiries
- Route you to the correct payment or download provider
- Detect abuse, spam, or suspicious activity
- Maintain records related to support requests and payments
5. Cookies and analytics
The website may use analytics or infrastructure tooling that measures traffic and performance. Depending on the tool in use, this may rely on aggregate measurement, server-side logs, or cookies that are necessary for specific website functions.
FileLever does not use this website as an advertising profile or data brokerage surface. The goal of analytics is to understand what pages people use, where documentation is unclear, which downloads are being accessed, and whether the site is functioning properly.
You can also limit some browser-based collection through your browser settings, privacy extensions, or network controls, although doing so may affect how some parts of the web experience function.
6. Third-party services
FileLever currently relies on third-party services for specific parts of the experience. Those providers have their own privacy practices.
- Cloudflare or similar infrastructure and analytics tooling for site delivery, security, and aggregate traffic reporting
- GitHub Releases or similar release hosting for downloadable builds
- Dodo Payments for payment processing
- Resend or similar transactional email tooling for contact form delivery
When you leave the FileLever site for a payment flow, release page, or other third-party property, that provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to the information processed there.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers where needed to run the website, process support requests, handle payments, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, or protect the rights and safety of FileLever and its users.
8. Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining website operations, answering contact and licensing requests, keeping business records, and complying with applicable law. Retention periods can vary depending on the type of request, the provider involved, and legal or accounting requirements.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and provider-based safeguards appropriate to the scale of the site. No website or email workflow can guarantee absolute security, so you should avoid sending highly sensitive information through the contact form.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or limitation of certain personal information we hold about you. You may also have rights to object to certain processing or request data portability where applicable.
Because FileLever does not currently require a general website account to browse docs or download releases, many of these requests will most often relate to contact form submissions or other direct communications.
To make a privacy-related request, use the contact form and select the relevant topic.
11. Children's privacy
The FileLever website and desktop software are not directed to young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the contact form, please reach out through the contact page so it can be reviewed.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the website, desktop app, payment options, analytics setup, or support workflows evolve. When that happens, we will update the effective date on this page and post the revised version here.
