Duplicate File Finder
FileLever scans a local folder, direct Dropbox folder, or Google Drive folder synced locally with the Google Drive client; confirms which files are truly identical; and lets you review every duplicate group before you remove anything.
FileLever does not send your file inventory to its own servers. Nothing is deleted until you explicitly approve it. Dropbox cleanup requires write access to the account you authorize; Google Drive client sync folders remain a local workflow.
A careful workflow
Select the folder, drive, archive, photo library, direct Dropbox folder, or locally synced Google Drive folder you want to review. FileLever looks through its files for duplicates that may be using storage unnecessarily.
Set a minimum file size, and leave out files or folders that do not belong in the review—such as caches, temporary files, or application data. Add exclude patterns directly or load an exclude file; common operating-system clutter is excluded by default.
FileLever does not treat matching names as matching files. It groups likely candidates by size, checks their content hashes, and confirms matches byte for byte. For Dropbox, it uses Dropbox content hashes where available.
See every matching copy together, including its name, location, size, and the space you could recover. Choose the copy to keep, then remove only the copies you have reviewed. Dropbox cleanup requires write access to the Dropbox account you authorize; cleanup in a Google Drive client sync location remains a local filesystem action that Google's client reconciles.

Evidence before cleanup
Finding files with the same name is easy. Knowing they are safe to remove is harder.
Files with different sizes cannot be duplicates, so they do not need a deeper comparison.
Content hashes compare files that could match instead of relying on their names or dates. Dropbox content hashes are used where available.
Matching candidates are verified at the byte level before FileLever presents them as duplicates.
You choose which copy stays and which confirmed extras, if any, should be removed.

A familiar use case
You scan a photo archive and find three exact copies of the same image:
