FileLever can connect directly to the Dropbox account you authorize. Use that connection to preview folder sync changes, scan a Dropbox folder for exact duplicates, or review its largest files—without first mirroring the Dropbox folder to your Mac with a separate desktop client.
Connect Dropbox deliberately
Choose Dropbox from the relevant folder picker, then complete the Dropbox sign in and authorization flow in your browser. FileLever asks for read access when you only need to inspect a location and for write access only when you choose a workflow that can sync, move, or delete files.
FileLever connects to Dropbox directly. It does not route Dropbox files through FileLever servers.
Folder Sync: preview before remote changes
Choose a local or Dropbox source and target, set any exclusions, and run the preview before syncing. The preview separates files into the same practical groups used for local folders:
| Group | What it means |
|---|---|
| To Sync | Files missing from the target or whose target copy needs updating. |
| Target Only | Files in the target but not in the source. |
| Unchanged | Files that already match. |
Copy/update preserves target-only files. Mirror removes target-only files only after you review the preview and explicitly confirm the run. A Dropbox target therefore needs write authorization for a sync or mirror operation.
Duplicate File Finder: exact matches, reviewed cleanup
Choose a Dropbox folder to scan, optionally set a minimum file size and exclusions, then review each duplicate group. FileLever groups candidates by size and uses Dropbox content hashes where available; it verifies a candidate before presenting it as an exact duplicate.
Keep the copy that belongs in the right place and remove only the extra copies you have reviewed. Remote cleanup requires write authorization and explicit approval for the selected action.
Large File Reviewer: inspect before you reclaim space
Scan a Dropbox folder to bring its largest files to the surface. Review each file’s path, size, category, and modified date before choosing an action.
For a remote file, you can open it in Dropbox or copy or move it to a local archive. Deleting or moving a remote original requires write authorization and confirmation. Check your Dropbox account’s retention and recovery settings before treating a remote deletion as reversible.
Keep the two cloud paths distinct
Dropbox is a direct remote integration. Google Drive is different: FileLever works with a Google Drive folder only after the Google Drive desktop client has synced it locally. See Google Drive workflows for that local-client path.
Choose the right Dropbox workflow
- Use Folder Sync to compare a local or Dropbox source and target before choosing copy/update or mirror.
- Use Duplicate File Finder to confirm exact duplicate groups before you approve remote cleanup.
- Use Large File Reviewer to review storage-heavy files before you copy, move, or delete them.
Each workflow begins with a review step. Write access is requested only for an action that can change the Dropbox location you selected.
